Region: Europe

Site: Lisbon - Portugal

Date: 2010 Feb 17

Most city skies are empty of stars, vanished by light pollution. From the photographer: "There are a few visible stars in the scene. From left to right are Hamal, Sheraton, Mirach, Shedir and Caph, Kocab and Pherkad, Mizar and Alkaid, Cor Caroli, and Denebola above the cliff at right. In the foreground from left to right is Christ the King monument, the Ponte 25 de Abril bridge above the Tagus River that connects the south edge of Lisbon, Almada, to the capital of Portugal, Lisbon, at right."
