Polar Aligned

By: Amir H. Abolfath

Region: Middle East

Site: Yazd - Iran

As seen on the National Geographic News during 2 hours of exposure the Earth rotation has caused stars to trail around the north celestial pole with Polaris, the North Star, located very close to the center of the trails (the pole). The 14-inch cassegrain telescope inside this observatory is also pointed toward the pole. This amateur observatory is located under dark skies of central Iran desert in Chadormalu, Yazd province.
